New Books!!!

Hello LSS!

I’m excited to be writing my first blog post to you from the library learning commons. This is a great place to come to for book recommendations, updates of what’s happening in the learning commons or tips and tricks for research projects.

I’ve been busy ordering all the best new books of 2020 for our library so make sure you stop by for a visit and check out all of the exciting new reads. We have something for everyone, I’ve added some excellent grapic novels, rom-coms, fantasy novels, student requests, books exploring racism and the Black Lives Matter movement and many more.

My favourite read this summer was “Where the Crawdad’s Sing” by Delia Owens and I’m super excited to be adding it to our library to share with all of you!! Here’s an excerpt from the book: “For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life–until the unthinkable happens.

I’d love to hear what you’re currently reading and what your book recommendations are. Please stop by and let me know if you’d be interesting in writing book recommendations for the LSS library blog or even just leaving a quick “sticky note” review.

Have a great year everyone, I can’t wait to see you in the library!!
